Opening URLs and Settings

Open links, the share sheet, and app settings

One.openURL, One.openShare, and One.openSettings hand a request to the system. On iOS and Android they use React Native’s Linking and Share modules.

Opening URLs

One.openURL(url) opens a URL with whatever app handles it: the browser for https, the phone app for tel:, or your own scheme. On native the promise rejects when no installed app can open the URL. On web it opens a new tab with window.open(url, '_blank', 'noopener') and resolves.

To show a page inside your app instead, use One.Browser.

Sharing

One.openShare({ title, message, url }) presents the system share sheet. On iOS it resolves once the sheet closes, whether the user shared or dismissed it; on Android it resolves once the chooser opens.

On iOS the URL is shared beside the message. Android’s share intent carries text only, so the message and URL are joined with a space. Native rejects when neither a message nor a URL is given. On web it calls navigator.share, which rejects when the user cancels, and rejects with openShare: this browser has no share sheet where the browser has none.

App Settings

One.openSettings() opens your app’s page in the system Settings app, which is where a user grants a permission they denied earlier.

The web has no app settings page, so there it rejects with openSettings: the web has no app settings page.
