CTSlicingManager.AppCategory

enum · iOS 26.3+ · SDK 27.1

enum AppCategory

Application categories you use with network slicing. Network slicing allows carriers to optimize their network for specific types of applications. The `AppCategory` enum defines the supported application types that can use network slicing. You can use a category only when all of the following conditions are met: - The carrier's network supports the specific slice category. For example, a carrier may support communication slices but not gaming slices. - Your app has the appropriate entitlements for that category. - The device and network conditions allow network slicing. Always check ``CTSlicingManager/availableSliceAppCategories`` before you attempt to activate a category. Availability depends on both carrier network support and your app's entitlements.

description

TypeScript
getDescription($self: CTSlicingManager_AppCategory): string
Swift declaration
var description: String { get }

A string representation of the application category. This property provides a string representation of the category, suitable for debugging and logging purposes. > Important: This description isn't localized, so don't display it to people in your app's interface. > For text that people see, provide your own localized strings based on the category value.

allCases

TypeScript
get allCases(): Array<CTSlicingManager_AppCategory>
Swift declaration
static var allCases: [CTSlicingManager.AppCategory] { get }

All application categories supported at the current OS version. On iOS 26.3 and later, this property returns `[.gaming, .communication, .streaming]`. On iOS 27.0 and later, this property also includes `.missionCritical`. Use this property to enumerate all valid categories at runtime without checking the OS version directly.

init · iOS 26.3+

init

TypeScript
init(rawValue: number): (CTSlicingManager_AppCategory) | null
Swift declaration
init?(rawValue: Int)

Creates a new instance with the specified raw value. If there is no value of the type that corresponds with the specified raw value, this initializer returns `nil`. For example: enum PaperSize: String { case A4, A5, Letter, Legal } print(PaperSize(rawValue: "Legal")) // Prints "Optional(PaperSize.Legal)" print(PaperSize(rawValue: "Tabloid")) // Prints "nil" - Parameter rawValue: The raw value to use for the new instance.

rawValue

TypeScript
getRawValue($self: CTSlicingManager_AppCategory): number
Swift declaration
var rawValue: Int { get }

The corresponding value of the raw type. A new instance initialized with `rawValue` will be equivalent to this instance. For example: enum PaperSize: String { case A4, A5, Letter, Legal } let selectedSize = PaperSize.Letter print(selectedSize.rawValue) // Prints "Letter" print(selectedSize == PaperSize(rawValue: selectedSize.rawValue)!) // Prints "true"
